Pianist Joe Sullivan, although only 44 at the time, was already slipping into obscurity when he recorded these nine solo and three trio performances (with bassist Dave Lario and drummer Smoky Stover). Still in fine form, Sullivan romps through six of his originals (including "My Little Pride and Joy," "Gin Mill Blues" and his famous "Little Rock Getaway") and six standards (highlighted by "That's a Plenty" and "Honeysuckle Rose"), but this LP has not been available in far too many years and has thus far been overlooked by the Original Jazz Classics series.
