The first of guitarist Sal Salvador's three Stash albums is as much a showcase for Nick Brignola (who takes colorful solos on baritone, soprano and alto) as it is for the leader. With pianist Don Friedman, bassist Gary Mazzaroppi and drummer Butch Miles all making strong contributions, this is an excellent straight-ahead date highlighted by "I'm Afraid The Masquerade Is Over," "Blue Monk" and a 12 1/2 minute version of Dave Brubeck's "In Your Own Sweet Way."
